How to Play Tongits
Getting Started
Tongits is traditionally played with a standard 52-card deck by 2 to 4 players. Each player receives 13 cards at the start of the game. The game proceeds clockwise, with players drawing cards from the deck or the discard pile and discarding one card each turn.
Game Phases
- Deal: Each player receives 13 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile, with the top card starting the discard pile.
- Draw: Players take turns drawing either from the draw pile (face down) or the discard pile (face up).
- Meld: Players may meld valid card combinations. Valid melds include three or four of a kind, sequences of three or more cards of the same suit, and seven cards of the same suit.
- Discard: After drawing, players must discard one card to end their turn.
- Tongits Call: A player may call "Tongits" when they have melded all 13 cards into valid combinations. Other players then count their points.
Winning the Game
The game can end in three ways:
- Tongits: When a player melds all 13 cards and declares "Tongits," they win immediately.
- Deck Out: When the draw pile is exhausted, the player with the lowest point total wins.
- Draw: If a player has no valid melds and chooses not to draw from the discard pile, they may surrender and pay half the current stakes.

Seven-Card Suit
Seven cards of the same suit, which can be split into valid melds
Point Values
At the end of each round, players count the points from their unmelded cards:
